New Hope Club have had quite the year. As their debut album found a place in the top 5 of the UK’s Official Album Chart, we thought we’d share with you our favourite New Hope Club songs. Let’s go!
5) My Life
Okay so hear us out. We believe that this deserves a higher place on the list. However, taking in to account the format in which it was released, technically it’s a song by The Vamps?…but it’s also a New Hope Club song so we’re allowing it. New Hope Club teamed up with The Vamps and created “My Life.” Excellent collaboration! It’s got to be one of the catchiest songs by the band and we love it! The song is about being used by someone who only wanted you because of your success. “My Life” is all about calling that person out and telling them that you are much better without them.
You can hear “My Life” on The Vamps Night & Day album, the Day Edition…on Tristan’s version. They don’t exactly make it easy to find, do they? We’ll make it easy for you. It’s on Spotify, knock yourselves out if you love a good sassy song!
4) Worse
“Worse” is the band’s most recent release. It deserves a place on this list just for the music video alone. It was directed by the lovely Bailee Madison and sees a star-studded cast! From Wizards of Waverly Places’ David Henrie, David DeLuise, Maria Canals Barrera, and Jennifer Stone, to High School Musical star Bart Johnson and his wife Robyn Lively. Maddie Ziegler, who we all know from the hit show Dance Moms and many more!
3) Medicine
Be warned. Before you listen to “Medicine,” you must accept the fact that it will be stuck in your head for at least a week. We suggest you don’t listen to it during exam time, we wouldn’t want you getting distracted! If you’re willing to take that risk, then, by all means, check this one out!
“Medicine” is similar to “My Life” in terms of meaning behind the song. It’s about not missing someone and being better off without them. It’s not as sassy, but it certainly packs the same punch. Very powerful song. Perfect to listen to when you want to shrug someone off for good.
2) Permission
“Permission” made it on the list purely because we love it live! It’s definitely a fan favourite and we can see why. The audience goes crazy the moment they play the first note. New Hope Club fans started an awesome trend where they conga around the venue throughout the song. It’s the perfect fan-band moment and demonstrates the connection that they have.
The song is perfect for a party – which is probably why it goes down well live so much! Perfect to have a dance to and have a sing-a-long. Very much deserving of being so far up on this list…but not quite the top spot.
1) Why Oh Why
“Why Oh Why” is an album track and let’s face, it’s very underrated. It wasn’t released as a single, and it doesn’t have a music video. But, wow is it a good song! It has more of an acoustic feel to it than the others mentioned in the list but just as – if not more – catchy.
Just like “Medicine,” you might want to prepare yourselves. It’s an extremely addicting track. But, we believe that everyone needs to hear it. Fans, your friends, your family, your dog, your fish, your enemies – everybody! We strongly believe that you will instantly become a New Hope Club fan the moment you press play…although, that goes for all the songs on the list!
New Hope Club are definitely a band you need to keep your eye on. They already have a large, dedicated fan base and it’s constantly growing. You can stream the trio’s debut album on Spotify. If you like what you hear, be sure to follow their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more updates.
