Festival season has officially begun. Last weekend (6th and 7th June) saw an incredible music festival located at St Mary’s stadium in Southampton.
The Sunday saw Scouting for Girls, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and McFly take to the stage for a fun filled evening of fantastic live music. Scouting for Girls certainly got the crowd warmed up with their classic tracks including; Heartbeat, Elvis Ain’t Dead, and She’s So Lovely. The band even performed a snippet of a new song where they filmed the crowd to feature in the music that will come out at the end of the summer. Their plan is to film small parts of the performance at every show they perform, and merge them altogether. Fans who attented will look foreard to that in the near future!
Sophie Ellis-Bextor takes the stage next where fans could dance the night away with her iconic hits. She also performed covers that the crowd simply loved. The audience truly got their dancing shoes on for her cover of Madonna’s Like A Prayer before finishing on Murder on the Dancefloor – would it even be a Sophie Ellis-Bextor gig without this song featured?
Finally, the headliners of the night, McFly wrap up the night. They performed a wonderful set which featured hits that include; All About You, Shine A Light and Obviously. Newer tracks that hit hard on the guitars; Where Did All The Guitars Go, Forevers Not Enough, and Land of the Bees. A memorable moment was a terrific mash up of their song Everybody Knows. During the song, they performed a medley of some of the best songs released over the decades. Pink Pony Club, What Makes You Beautiful, I’m Gonna Be 500 Miles, Twist and Shout and more all together in a unique blend. McFly ended the show with 5 Colours in her Hair, where the crowd had one last dance, before fireworks concluded the end of the show.
All performaces during the night were incredible. Their was a great selection of food, a quiet place where you could find merch, and plenty of options if one needed the toilet! Overall, the event provided an amazing night of entertainment.
