The Lion King is one of the most beloved Disney films in history. Now, fans will be able to witness the backstory of lion brothers; Mufasa and Scar.
This week, Disney dropped the trailer for The Lion King prequel titled “Mufasa.” Disney fans have been waiting in anticipation for this new film release, now it looks like the wait is nearly over. For those who need a bit of a recap on The Lion King story; it is the journey of a young lion cub named Simba who will once rule over his kingdom. That day came sooner rather than later after he and his father, Mufasa, get tricked by Mufasa’s jealous brother Scar. Well…we all know *that* scene as most of us have probably talked about it in therapy. Despite the sadness of it all, it is still filled with family humour, catchy music, and characters that will stay with you forever.
But, why was there so much bad blood between Mufasa and Scar? There is a backstory to everything. “Mufasa” will take you back to when the two brothers were lion cubs. The trailer raises a lot of questions; were the two lions ever close? What adventures did they get up to? Had they always hated each other? Will we discover how Scar earned that name? Its questions we have been asking for years and years, and now it looks like we’ll finally get our answers.
The trailer shows an action packed adventure. It is also live action which means it is visually stunning. Of course, it wouldn’t be a lion king film without music and who better to ask for help than Lin Manuel-Miranda. Yes, this legend who brought us Hamilton and wrote songs for other Disney modern classics such as Encanto and Moana, will be writing the music for this new film.
