All trying to make their father proud, all putting their efforts into extremely different business ventures. Which eventually with time, will see their demise.

Verna (Carla Gugino) seems to appear in the worst of times and almost acts like the grim reaper, making an appearance before many deaths in the show. But who is she? Why is the family surrounded by death and random circumstance? All will be unravelled as Roderick shares all with long term enemy and detective Auguste Dupin (Carl Lumbly).
