Charlie Clark has returned to the music scene this autumn with reflective track, ‘Blink of an Eye’. It’s available to listen to on Spotify!
Charlie is considered to be one of Scotland’s best-kept secrets. He is a songwriter, musician, promoter and so much more. Originally, Charlie was a founding member of Glasgow indie-pop foursome Astrid.
Now, Charlie has a new found passion of supporting artists just like himself. From his role in supergroup ‘The Reindeer Section’ and projects such as ‘Broken Arrow’ and ‘MJ12’, Charlie has a much loved fandom and a range of listeners.
‘Blink of an Eye’ is a gentle reminder to look after the most precious things in life. With the day to day routine, it can be easy to forget your luck and things most humble to you, however Charlie sings how these things can be taken when it’s too late to appreciate.
Along with the new release is an accompanying music video. The video is filled with trippy transitions and gorgeous colours. Charlie has done a great job of having a visual that makes you feel connected to the rhythm and emotion of the track. It’s certainly an incredible example of an artist having a vision, and it paying off. He has become known for his intense music videos, such as the visual for ‘A Bridge To Your Idol‘.
When discussing the track, Charlie said:
“I was getting overwhelmed with melancholy about relationships and mistakes I’d made and things I should and have not done etc. I was reflecting on more microcosmic internal issues…. I refer to my mind as radio K-F**k fairly often. Sometimes the best thing to do when you feel overwhelmed is nothing at all.”
‘Blink of an Eye’ is the latest in a string of new releases from Charlie’s new independent label ‘No Big Deal Music’. Taking on the challenge of a label, he seeks to introduce independent musicians and artists from the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Charlie Clark has released inspiring sounds from Isle of Lewis native Scott C Park, and ascending LA artist Clarke & The Himselfs.
