Sea Girls have recently shared the news that their highly anticipated second album “Homesick” will be out on the 14th January 2022! The announcement came alongside their brand-new single “Sick” which is now available to stream via all major streaming platforms.
Back in 2020, Sea Girls dropped their debut album which saw success after it found its place in the top 3. Now, they return with new music that we will all be able to hear in due course! “Homesick” will see thirteen brand-new thrilling tracks that will see the band doing what they are best at – creating some absolute bangers! The track that you will hear are said to bring some personal experiences within the lyrics. During the lockdown, member Henry Camamile returned to his childhood home in Lincolnshire. Here, he was able to reflect on his past and used that inspiration to write some powerful lyrics.
When talking about the process, Henry explains;
“Imagine us locked down in the studio in rainy Brixton working with the producers remotely on the album in California’s Topanga Canyon. That clashing of worlds is the sound of this record, the DNA. Making an album this way, remotely and 5000 miles apart, was a crazy idea and shouldn’t have worked, but it did”
Ahead of the album, Sea Girls dropped their all-new track “Sick.” It’s a song that gives us an insight into what is to come next. Its perfectly put together with highly relatable lyrics and sick instrumentation. When talking about “Sick,” Henry continues;
“Sick is me listing things I’m pissed off with and feeling sorry for myself, it’s a growing up song where I realise I’m no longer a young child. It’s me in my bedroom at home ranting with my thoughts and going down the hole of being pissed.
I am sick of everything – from things I used to love through to things that feel vacuous, like consuming and buying. All these emotions are piling up and it’s me just asking for a reset, a childish solution. It was a turning point in the writing for this album where the songs became about worrying for other people and how they were feeling. The pivot where I started writing clearly with a bigger perspective. I literally feel myself growing up throughout this song”
Sea Girls are bound to be a terrific band live! The energy they will bring to a room will be extremely contagious. It’s a room we would love to be in that’s for sure.
