BRITS Rising Star Griff, has recently announced that she will be releasing a seven track mixtape, due to be released on the 11th of June. The mixtape is now available for pre-order!
In celebration of her announcement, the singer also launched the title track “One Foot in Front of the Other” to give her listeners an insight of what’s to come. The single was premiered on Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in The World on BBC Radio 1. It’s a wonderful track that is a fantastic addition to the mixtape. “One Foot in Front of the Other” demonstrates Griff’s journey to stardom. The entirety was written throughout lockdown about discusses the uncertainty of the future. It takes a vulnerable snapshot of feeling out of control and tackling life’s little challenges. But ultimately, it’s about having faith in yourself and your ability. When talking about the mixtape, Griff explains that it is about;
“that feeling that you could fall at any second. I’ve also produced the majority of this mixtape – I heard a stat that 2% of music producers are women, and so it feels important that as a young female in the music industry I should empower myself and continue to properly do it. It was challenging, but I hope in doing so ‘One Foot In Front of The Other’ feels like a raw, emotional and unpolished body of work.”
Her musical journey so far has been quite the rollercoaster. Her most recent achievement being her big win at the BRIT Awards where she won the prestigious BRITs Rising Star. The BRITS was a huge night for the songstress as she was also heralded by the likes of Taylor Swift. Don’t you just love women supporting women? Although it’s barely halfway through the year, this isn’t the only achievement Griff has made in 2021. She also made her TV debut cross ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ and ‘Later…With Jools Holland.’The next step in her journey will be dropping her mixtape. The full tracklist can be found below;
