The newest addition to the Marvel series, ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ is now available to watch in full on Disney Plus.
The series is based six months after ‘the blip’, and shows the struggles of what life looked like after End Game. Although the return of loved ones seemed to be a joyous occasion, the new series delves into the negative impact it had… How credit is now an issue with banks having stricter limits with loans and borrowing, as well as an increase in population. Realistically, it would be a tough time for everyone and a likely recession.
With this in mind, some people preferred the world how it was in the five years in between the two snaps. A terrorist group named ‘The Flag Smashers’ are fighting for their rights, and causing havoc along the way. Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) join forces to try and stop The Flag Smashers, but it isn’t an easy ride.
With the growing pressure of having Caps’ shield, Sam decides to retire it to a museum. He’s happy being The Falcon, and decided against becoming the new Captain America. Shortly after this, American government chose to name a new Captain America, in the name of John Walker. With a lifetimes worth of achievements he seems like the best guy for the role, but is he really? The new Cap is working towards the common goal with Sam and Bucky, but their approach proves to be very different.
The series also tackles racism. The pair meet a very important character who describes how he was treated after using the super soldier serum, an incredibly different experience to Steve.
