Netflix have recently released the new season of ‘The Haunting’ series, by dropping ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’. You’re likely to have seen this trending, and this is why we 100% recommend you give it a watch, if you haven’t already! Don’t worry – no spoilers.
Created by Mike Flanagan, ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ sees Dani Clayton (Victoria Pedretti), taking an au pair job in the country, 6 months after moving to England from America. Although the lavish house and beautiful setting seems ‘perfectly splendid’ at first, Dani soon learns from the children she’s looking after that things aren’t as they first seem.
Flora Wingrave (Amelie Bea Smith) and Miles Wingrave (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) are two children in desperate need of care after a fatal accident that caused their parents to never come home from a break away. Luckily, they are surrounded by responsible adults to take care of them. Owen Sharma played by Rahul Kohli is the chef of the Manor, along with the gardener, Jamie played by Amelia Eve. Tying the family together is Hannah Grose, the manager of Bly Manor, portrayed by the incredible T’Nia Miller.
With each individual having a background story and their own demons, The Haunting of Bly Manor is covered in spiritual flashbacks and surrounded by ghostly characters, good and bad. You’ll find yourself thinking you know exactly where the story is going, and change your mind by the next scene.
If you’re looking for a spooky storyline and hidden ghosts that you might not catch the first time, this is definitely the series for you. Especially in the lead up to Halloween. One thing Mike Flanagan does well, is create characters that you instantly root for and fall in love with. Seriously, you don’t want to miss this.
