London-based band Tenacity have recently released their phenomenal new EP titled “There/Gone.” It is now available to stream on Spotify so be sure to go check it out!
The EP starts off with the song that inspired the title “There/Gone.” It has an eerie beginning that instantly has you intrigued. It has a whimsical feel to it. You can imagine yourself exploring an enchanting forest whilst listening to it…Maybe that’s just us? Regardless, “There/Gone” is so dream-like, it’s not difficult to find yourself in a soothing trance that you don’t want to get out of.
After that fabulous start, we move on to “Too Dark.” A theme that you’ll see throughout the EP is the unique soundscapes Tenacity have embedded within the tracks. This gives the songs so much character that makes their sound stand out from the rest. In “Too Dark,” you can hear a moving train – which makes you wonder what story the band are trying to tell. Why a train? Is there some sort of meaning behind that?
The next track you hear is the single Tenacity released ahead of the EP. Here, the vibe picks up a bit. The band like to flip between a variety of musical genres with every song they perform. The perfect blend of alternative pop, rock, and jazz. We’d say that “Nothing Else” fits more into the jazz category. Whilst the past two songs will get your brain in a focussed state of mind as they’re such a relaxing listen, “Nothing Else” will make you wanna snap out of that state and dance around the house.
Last but not least we have “Don’t Let Them In.” This is the perfect way to an end an incredible EP. With so much competition within the music industry, it can be hard for artists to stand out amongst the rest. With so much music out there, and the fact that streaming services allows music fans to listen to whatever they like whenever they want, it can be hard to stay original. Tenacity have a sound that like no other. “Don’t Let Them In” defines Tenacity’s vision perfectly.
“There/Gone” is a body of work that you just need to get behind. The band are planning on releasing new material very soon, so be sure to follow their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more updates.
