Hip-hop artist, RenzNiro, has recently announced his new mixtape No Weapon Shall Prosper, and drops the first single ACW alongside the official music video.
RenzNiro is an artist and producer from Manchester and is gearing up to release his new project. Over the past four years, he has quietly been building a prolific discography. He has four projects that have consisted of nine singles, whilst regularly performing gigs across the the UK and Europe. Whilst his sounds sits within the grime genre, his exquisite production, and sharp, candid lyricism allows him to stand amongst other artists within that sound. He is uniquely his own.
Now RenzNiro is ready to set out on a new adventure. His new single ACW features London based artist prettyboyface, and was produced by RenzNiro himself, and wudini. Renz describes prettyboyface as “seriously underrated”. The team were determined to create a masterpiece, so went through several versions of the track before perfecting the final product. Renz explains that he “wanted to make something that really made me want to move,” setting the tone for what’s to come.
A music video was released alongside the track. Once again, Renz put together a fantastic team for the project. The video was directed by Harry Right Here, who is a long term collaborator and friend. The pair worked together on previous releases including ‘Real Striker’, ‘Simonsway’ and ‘Hail Mary’. Harry explains;
“Me and Renz had done a couple of vids together that all exist in the zeitgeist. We both were looking to do something different. ACW is a very contemporary-sounding track. In my general practice as a director, I like seeing things that shouldn’t go together sitting side by side. The idea of that clash was my jumping off point for the video. Shooting on black and white 16mm film and in an old function room, it looks like some 40s noir picture. It’s a bunch of POC owning a space that’s usually connected to a white British background. The performances, just like the track, breathe confidence and entitlement. This helped to guide the project.”
No Weapon, No Prosper has been a project that has been curated over several years. The track listing contains material that have been written over time, meaning that every lyric and production has been perfectly put together to the point of perfection. It will be reflective, unique, and well worth the listen.
