“Mother of the Bride” is a fun loving story about not only new love, but also old, unrequited love.

Every so often, you get that itch to watch a wonderfully cheesy yet funny romantic-comedy that has joy and sometimes maybe a bit of sadness. “Mother of the Bride” begins after RJ (Sean Teale) proposes to his one true love Emma (Miranda Cosgrove). After saying yes, Emma realises that she has to tell her mother, Lana (Brooke Shields). Although the two have a close mother-daughter relationship, Lana can be quite outspoken. She is highly intelligent, as well as her daughter, and just wants what is best for her only daughter – especially considering that Emma will have to get married without her father being present. After he died in a car accident when she was eight, Emma and Lana have learnt to stick together through thick and thin.

The couple decide to get married in Thailand. It is here we meet AJ’s father, Will (Benjamin Beaty). Coincidentally, Lana and Will have quite a rocky past. Unbeknownst to everyone involved, it is a shocking reunion that could potentially put a damper on the wedding. Throughout the film, Lana has to learn how to juggle her awkward and strained relationships. It is a testing situation for both couples and families. But, can all work through their problems in order for the wedding to go smoothly? That’s something you’ll have to find out for yourself!

“Mother of the Bride” will have you crying with laughter. It’s a feel-good movie that has all the cliches of a Rom-com, but truly in the best way possible. If you’re after something to watch that doesn’t need much brain power, then this is the film for you. You can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the hilarious story in front of you with a glass of wine. “Mother of the Bride” is now available to stream on Netflix!
