Nelly Furtado has dropped her brand new 14 track album ‘7’. It’s available to listen to on all major streaming platforms!
The collection opens with it’s introductory track ‘Showstopper’. Many listeners are instantly exported to their music memories, with the overall vibe of the track. It sets a clear presidence for the rest of the album.
A couple of tracks later, is @love Bites’ (Feat. Tove Lo and SG Lewis). The pop-meets-rnb melody feels very early 2000’s, which is a memorable time for music for most Nelly Furtado fans. With clever lyrics and a change in pace throughout the song, this is truly a glorious listen.
‘Honesty’ offers a more soulful vibe, and explains how important honesty is in a relationship. This one is a proper jam – whether you’re cleaning, getting ready for a night out or just chilling for an evening, this track suits all moods!
Immediately after is ‘Floodgate’ which sounds like it’s taken inspiration by no other than Post Malone. There’s an underlying theme to the sound of the album, however it’s super interesting to see the varied inspirations she has pulled from!
‘Save Your Breath’ (Feat Williane 108, Charmie, Taborah Johnson and Tynomi Banks’). This tambourine foot tapper will remain in your mind for weeks – the incredible vocals are paired perfectly with the harmonies throughout the track.
Towards the end of the album, is ‘Better Than ever’. Again, offering a completely different sound. This one is more if a balad and really shows off the perfect isolated vocals from Nelly Furtado. Letting yourself be happy after heartbreak can be tough, but reminiscing on how you were previously treated certainly helps.
The album comes to a close with ‘Untitled’. This soft and careful song wraps the collection up perfectly. The piano sounding ballad is a song of acceptance and self worth, which is a message close to the heart of the artist and has been since her debut.
