Singer-songwriter, Jake Bugg, has recently shared his fantastic new single “I Wrote The Book” – which is now available to stream via all major streaming platforms!
“I Wrote The Book” is a wonderful, acoustic driven track that is sure to resonate with many listeners. Alongside the release, a beautiful music video directed by Rachael Halaburda was also dropped. The concept is simple yet affective. It was filmed whilst Jake was on tour and was filmed in a small pub where they invited locals to come and see him perform the track. The video shows the singer simply playing his guitar with an acoustic band to regulars within the pub. There is something about it that makes it intimate and personal.
On the video, Jake Bugg explains;
“We filmed this in the West of Ireland at an amazing pub on a day off between shows. We invited the locals to join us for a few drinks and a sing along. It was a great time!”
The single is quite a personal one for Jake. It talks of the about the injustice he’s seen dealt to the family and friends he grew up with. It is said that he has written the track out of frustration of societal inequality. He explains;
“People might say ‘What do you know?’ or ‘Just stick to music’. I’ve got a bit of money, but we all know the people this affects. I was just writing it because it was the way I felt. It pisses me off – especially in a country like ours where we have the means and funds to take care of the people suffering the most, but we choose not to.”
The song is rather inspiring to listen to. It has been released ahead of Jake’s latest album A Modern Day Distraction – which is due to be released on the 4th October! He has spent the summer performing at a variety of summer shows and festivals, yet he shows no sign of slowing down! In October, he heads out on tour once more; travelling across the States before moving on to the Europe. Tickets can be found here, and full tour dates can be found below;
