Alesha Dixon has been household name since her Mis-Teeq days, and has since had her feet firmly under the entertainment table, while also dabbling into the world of home and lifestyle. Now, she goes back to her roots in multiple ways with the release of ‘Ransom’!
With a new and aspiring Jamaican sound, this is already a strong contender to be the song of the summer. It’s hot, it’s lyrically clever and of course is topped off with glorious vocals from Alesha, who’s tone of voice can not be matched. What a vibe!
If anything is going to get you excited for summer, it’s the inspiring visuals for ‘Ransom’. Looking as gorgeous as ever, the sultry video is full of colour and good vibes. With yellow hints throughout, it truly is an exciting time to blare in the sunshine.
When discussing thee new release, Alesha Dixon said:
“I wanted a sample that was super familiar. Known and loved by all races, I wanted to fuse my commercial persona with my roots, the music I grew up on and still love that is such a big part of who I am. Being in Jamaica feels like home and it has both a spiritual calm as well as a bass line thumping around every corner!”
‘Ransom’ is a pure mixture of genres including sounds from dancehall, reggae and contemporary beats. It also samples incredibly popular track ‘Here Comes the Hotstepper’ by Ini Kamoze. The track has been produced by the acclaimed Supa Dups, and the video was shot in Port Antonio and Kingston, Jamaica.
