One of Britain’s most beloved sitcoms is set to return for a Christmas special! Yes, Outnumbered is back and will feature all the original cast.
For those who are unfamiliar with Outnumbered, it follows a British family going through every day life. Couple Sue and Pete Brockman (Claire Skinner and Hugh Dennis) are raising their three children; Jake (Tyger Drew-Honey), Ben (Daniel Roche), and Karen (Ramona Marquez). There house is ciaos to say the least. If you have young children of your own, then you can probably relate to the bizarre questions, strange behaviour, puberty, back chat, and family issues that you could probably do without. Outnumbered showcases the funny side to raising a family making it one of the most relatable sitcoms out there. What makes the show so interesting, is that it was only half scripted. The children often improvised making the reactions to their hilarious lines completely real.
For the one-off Christmas special, the children are now adults and Sue and Pete are dealing with having now adult children. Hugh Dennis explains:
“It’s a very exciting prospect to be revisiting the Brockman family – older, but not necessarily wiser – as they steer a path through the perils of Christmas and the rapids of modern-day family life.”
Claire Skinner adds:
“I’m really looking forward to being reunited with my TV family. Working on this wonderful BBC comedy doesn’t feel like work and is one of the greatest joys for us all.”
Fans of the show couldn’t be more excited to witness where the on-screen family are now. Although they are older, that does not necessarily mean that it is any less chaotic within the family home. Maybe grandchildren will make an appearance? What jobs do the children have now? Do any of them still live at home? Hopefully, all these questions will be answered. With this news and the fact that Gavin and Stacy will also be returning for a Christmas special, we are in for some fantastic telly!
