Netflix users have been going crazy for new stalker series ‘Baby Reindeer’, with many taking to social media to raise their thoughts.
‘Baby Reindeer’ is a Drama series recently placed on Netflix, featuring Donny (Richard Gadd) make his way through life. An aspiring comedian trying to juggle his dreams, love life, aspirations and work. All seems to be balanced until he meets Martha (Jessica Gunning), who visited the bar he worked in one day. Since then, everything changed.
From the beginning, Donny found it difficult to work out What Martha’s story is. She’s very vocal about her well paid and high end job with a Law Degree, with many famous and exciting clients. She can’t, however, afford a diet coke.
All of these things considered, as well as enjoying the attention, Donny began to spend more time with Martha as he tries to work out what her deal is.
Things soon turn sour as Martha starts to harass him, with hundreds of emails a day, barely making sense with many spelling and grammar errors. Donny is conflicted with whether to speak with the police, although this is often prompted by Teri (Nava Mau) – his actual love interest.
‘Baby Reindeer’ is a fictional retelling of Richard Gadd’s experience with a female stalker, offering an authentic story with different perspectives. Any usual stories based on stalking usually seem to involve a male stalker, so it’s really refreshing to see the roles reversed and how anyone can be effected by this tough subject.
A journey through the highs and lows of following your aspirations, accompanied with flashbacks and scenes that feel like diary entries. If you’re looking for a new drama series to binge that uncovers some very interesting and sometimes triggering topics, ‘Baby Reindeer’ is the one for you.
