Keyse has dropped her emotionally raw new single ‘Flesh & Blood’. It’s available to listen to on all major streaming platforms!
Keyse is known as a luminary that’s risen from the alt-pop/rock scene in the Midwest, with her magnetic presence and incredible story telling through song. since back in 2018, she’s shared the stage with some incredible names such as Lacey Sturm (Flyleaf), and members of Dance Gavin Dance. She’s known for her woven melodies and ultimate stage presence, bringing her music to life.
When discussing the track, Keyse said:
“Flesh & Blood is about a miscarriage I experienced a few years ago. I was not expecting, and was not trying, and did not and do not ever plan to be pregnant, but this is the earth-shattering event that led to me discovering I have endometriosis and realizing that the opportunity to change my mind in the future was being robbed from me. It’s also a song about the loss of autonomy, in that sense. I.e. the opening lyrics “I never meant for this to happen, you could’ve been my favorite accident.”
‘Flesh & Blood’ digs deep into the depths of how it feels to lose a baby, and the guilt that this carries. It’s easy to blame yourself in these situations, and it can take a while to adjust being pregnant at all, let alone coming to grips that your future won’t look like that anymore. It’s raw, emotional and desperate, like many find themselves during this situation.
Keyse really is the voice for expected parents when they lose their own, and with such a strong message hopes to help others in this unprecedented experience.
