The Masked Singer has returned and already has it’s viewers making extreme guesses and scratching their heads.
Join us to take a deep dive into the new masks, who the favourites are, and most importantly the first clues for each singer!
Maypole
Maypole was the first contestant to take the stage in this season. With references to gardens and flowers, this ‘model’ Maypole screams elegance. Some clues mentioned luck and direction, but who might it be? The colourful stage filed with pretty patterns and ribbons as she sang ‘Never Gonna Not Dance Again’ by P!nk. The judges and viewers are convinced this is a professional singer or performer, with impressive breath work and vocals.
Cricket
With a sort of posh demeanour, Cricket was sprinkled with ‘gold dust’ in his VT. With numbers and statistics flooding the screen, this one really has audiences baffled with their guesses. It does seem as though the clues point towards a sportsman, but is the cricket theme there to throw us off? An enjoyable performance none-the-less!
Bigfoot
The clumsy Bigfoot has suggested they often ‘put their foot in it’ as suggested by a trap in the VT. At one with nature, he’s recorded in some gorgeous surroundings, and then performed the Disney classic ‘You’re Welcome’ from Moana. Not the most impressive performance, but fun, and will certainly have the kids watching impressed with the song selection.
Dippy Egg
Working hard on the farm, Dippy Egg seems to like a simple life. Working with animals and a flare for music, there was also mention of ‘West Side Story’. He performed for the judges witha humble rendition of ‘Cheer Up Sleepy Jean’, complete with a band of eggs accompanying the backing track.
Weather
With a strong sense of self and diva-like ways, Weather’s elegance confused watchers with her clues. Including fish, mention of Boston and her overall demeanour doesn’t seem to line up to a specific celebrity just yet. The soulful vocals on ‘I Can See Clearly Now The Rain Has Gone’, the audience admired her tone of voice.
Rat
With a Liverpool accent and references to Scotland in her outfit, the nationality of this celeb had minds boggled. Rat mentioned liking things Squeaky Clean, and also mentioned TikTok. All of these clues seem specific and niche, however, nobody can quite put their finger on it yet. Bringing 90’s school disco vibes to the stage, she sang ‘Boom Boom Boom Boom’ by the Vengaboys, and the judges loved it!
