5) Can We Fix It? – Bob the Builder
Starting strong to welcome us into the new millennium, is Bob the Builder and our second children’s character in the series. The classic theme tune that many of our readers grew up with hot the number one spot in 2000, beating Westlife to the top spot.
4) Mad World – Michael Andrews & Gary Jules
Not the most joyful song to celebrate at Christmas, but holds a special message non the less. ‘Mad World’ will have you thinking about the good and bad times throughout the year and is a great listen for reflection and self worth.
3) Somethin’ Stupid – Robbie Williams & Nicole Kidman
An unlikely pairing for a delightful track. The flawless harmonies carry throughout the track, and its flirty vibes will have you in the Christmas spirit in no time.
2) Sound of the Underground – Girls Aloud
Hot off the heels from winning ‘Pop Stars: The Rivals’ back in 2002, Girls Aloud debuted at the top of the Christmas charts in 2002. It remains one of their most popular songs and was a solid introduction to their signature sound. With the recent announcement of their reunion, fans and listeners can’t wait to hear this one live!
1) Hallelujah – Alexandra Burke
Although the 2000’s saw many winning X Factor songs, Alexandra Burke’s rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ remains the favourite for many. The celebratory sound on a classic puts a great spin on the original, and continues to be one of, if not the most popular winners’ song to come from the X Factor.
