Your mid-week instalment of our Christmas Number 1 series is here, brace yourself for the 90’s. Buckle in, there’s some bangers!

5) Mr Blobby – Mr Blobby

Filled with nostalgia for many, we couldn’t not include this absolute banger in our count down. Mr Blobby by the man himself was Christmas number one in 1993. It’s silly vibe and nostalgic feeling still has many reflecting back on their childhood and younger years. He’s also not the only children’s’ character on our number 1 list, so keep an eye out for another familiar face tomorrow!

4) 2 Become 1 – Spice Girls

It’s soft and subtle approach will have you feeling your most feminine within seconds. 2 Become 1 was the first of three consecutive years at Christmas number 1 for the Spice Girls, a record that was then beaten in more recent years with LadBaby. It’s cute, it’s sexy, and is what the pop band were all about in their height of fame.

3) I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston

Potentially the most popular songs of the decade, ‘I Will Always Love You’ hit the top spot in 1992 and accompanied the release of The Bodyguard. Whitney’s vocals are absolutely incredible, and to this day is still a popular karaoke track around the world.

2) Goodbye – Spice Girls

‘Goodbye’ was the third and final Christmas number 1 for the Spice Girls, and felt like a true send off to the year. It’s an incredible listen to do some reflecting, and will shift your perspective for the good in many ways. Acknowledging the fight and struggle to be happy can sometimes feel rewarding.

1) Stay Another Day – East 17

Grab your fur lined hoods and step right up! The music video is also more famous than the song. In a really clever way, the ballad is accompanied by church bells and similar sounds to ensure it sounds festive, however the lyrics don’t support this at all. The devastating message of not being with a loved one on Christmas will have you wanting to drunk text your ex in a heartbeat, so listen with caution!
