“Wonka” has been in the works for quite some time and is one of the most highly anticipated film releases of the year. Now, film lovers can finally give this magical story a watch in cinemas!
“Wonka” is the prequel to the beloved story “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” The story first came to light back when Roald Dahl released the fantastic novel back in the sixties. Since then, there have been two successful films showcasing the story and all it’s magical glory. Willy Wonka is a character we all know. As complicated as he is, you can’t help but love his uniqueness. “Wonka” explores the backstory of this well loved character.
Willy Wonka (Timothee Chalamet) travels to Paris to live out his and his mother’s dream of owning a chocolate shop. With nothing but the clothes on his back, his iconic top hat, and his briefcase full of sweet treats, he finds himself at the hands of con-artists Mrs Scrubbit (Olivia Coleman) and Bleacher (Tom Davis). It is here he is introduced to some new friends including Noodle (Calah Lane) – a young girl who is trapped in the care of Mrs Scrubbit. Together, they find out of their misery by selling chocolate to pay off their debts.
We meet a wide range of characters with a spectacular, star-studded cast. We meet Slugworth (Paterson Joseph), Ficklegruber (Mathew Baynton), and Prodnose (Matt Lucas) – three villains who will do anything to ruin Wonka’s plans. We also have a chocolate loving priest who is played by none other than Rowan Akinson. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Wonka film without meeting at least one Oompa Loompa who was played by Hugh Grant.
Not only were the cast incredible, but the music sung throughout the film was simply enchanting. Timothee Chalamet of course stole the show with his charm and excellent ability to create such a likable character. The film made you believe in hope, and no dream is ever too big or too small to achieve!
Be sure to head to your local cinema to watch “Wonka” now!
