The Marvels comes as the next instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and fans are thrilled with it’s release.
The film features Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) who viewers are already familiar with, after her own movie released in 2019 and the huge part she played in winning the final battle with Thanos in The Avengers: End Game.
Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) was introduced as a child in Captain Marvel which took place in 1992. From here, we saw her again, all grown up, in the series ‘WandaVision’. It’s here that she walked through a witch hex giving her her powers.
Finally, Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) featured in her own MCU series ‘Ms. Marvel’, and is one of the youngest to have been featured in the franchise. After fan girling over The Avengers and especially Captain Marvel, she finds her own powers through the bangle sent by her grandmother.
The Marvels is a really fun watch, and isn’t afraid to make interesting choices no matter the pay off. It involves the three girls swapping places every time they use their powers, and having to work together to ensure the stories’ villain, Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton), does not use the matching bangle for evil. The three main characters have a really great chemistry together and counce off each other well, making it a fun and playful watch!
As always Marvel have released a contained tale to tell but also setting up what the future looks like and what to look forward to. There will continue to be a focus around the Multi-Verse, which will interlock towards the end of the film, and the end credit scene.
