Our Top 5 Christmas Covers!

So many Christmas bangers have been covered, but did you know the classics were also performed by your favourite artist?

There are many Christmas songs we consider ‘the classics’. Although new Christmas music is released every year by some big names, a lot of us find ourselves falling back to the ones we grew up with for that nostalgic feeling. Here’s our Top 5 Christmas Covers!

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town – Justin Bieber

This one will take you right back to your childhood. Back in 2011, Justin Bieber released ‘Under The Mistletoe’ complete with festive bangers old and new. ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ quickly became a favourite from the collection with its nostalgic vibe.

Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – U2

With so many original successful tracks, it’s unlike U2 to record a cover. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) was originally released by Darlene Love in 1963. It’s become more successful over the years with the nation’s favourite Father Christmas, Michael BublĂ© covering the track too. It’ also been done by the queen of Christmas herself Mariah Carey. Unlike these other versions, U2 offer a more raw vocal performance and reimagine the track in a completely different light.

Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree – Miley Cyrus

Miley loves a track to show off her twangy vocals and this cover is no exception. Completely rediscovering a firm family favourite, it’s not entirely different and the backing track is still very similar.

Merry Xmas Everybody – Steps

Steps do a great job of offering their signature sound with everything they’ve released, and you’ll know the artist without even reaching the first chorus. 1973 saw ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’ enter the charts for the first time with Slade, and there have been many covers since. Steps – who of course are known for their fun attitude and colourful vocals, were definitely the right group for the job with this one.

Last Christmas – Cascada

There was only one top spot and we had no choice but to give it to this banger. Cascada are known for their upbeat tracks that you can dance the night away to, and they certainly put their own spin on ‘Last Christmas’. With insane vocals from Natalie (as usual!) you’ll find yourself having it on repeat over the festive season.

Our Top 5 Christmas Covers were difficult to work out, as there are so many out there. There are many playlist compilations on major streaming platforms, so why don’t you check it out!
