Taylor Swift has finally dropped her brand-new album ‘Midnights’. It’s now available to listen to on all major streaming platforms!
Fans have waited a long time for a new album from Taylor and finally, it’s here. With a song for every mood, and filled to burst with imagery and metaphors, it has already become the most listened to album in a day on Spotify, before it had even been released for 24 hours!
The album opens with the incredible ‘Lavender Haze’ which does a great job of setting the scene for the entire album. With a mixture of pace, her vocals really stand out on this track! A couple of tracks later we have ‘Anti-Hero’. There is a firm feel of self-sabotage throughout the album and ‘Anti-Hero’ is no exception. It will have you reflecting on how you handle situations, and whether or not you’re the common denominator!
‘You’re On Your Own, Kid’ has had fans excited since the name of the track was announced. It has a constant build up and will have you bopping along in no time. Following after is ‘Midnight Rain’. Like many of Taylor’s tracks, it is filled to the brim with metaphors and imagery. It explains the classic right person wrong time situation, with the realisation that two people in a relationship yearn for different thing.
‘Karma’ is a topic that Taylor Swift has never been quiet about. With so many public relationships and circumstances, she often speaks of karma and the meaning behind the word. This glorious track explains how she views karma in an incredible way! ‘Mastermind’ describes how someone may believe in fate and that they were destined to meet their significant other, when actually, the whole scenario was set up. Her story telling really comes through with this song and is a fun one to play along with!
‘Bigger Than The Whole Sky’ is a beautiful love letter that many listeners can relate to for different reasons. It’s somber vibe is similar to that of a lullaby. Similar to previous tracks released by the songstress such as ‘The Archer’, the lyrics will cut you like a knife and keep you awake at night. Soon after, we’re introduced to ‘Glitch’. With a mixture of high and low vocals, she’s done a really great job of showing off her abilities.
The album comes to a close with ‘Dear Reader’ which feels like a love letter from Taylor to her fans. Filled with well wishes and important views and feedback, this is definitely one to reflect on. It also finishes the album perfectly!
