From the director who brought us ‘Get Out’ and ‘Us’, Jordan Peele has released new mind boggling sensation ‘Nope’.
With a star studded cast and some glorious visuals, you may leave the cinema with more questions you had going in, in a great way! The story follows brother and sister duo OJ (Daniel Kaluuya), and Emerald (Keke Palmer).
After the death of their father they continue to build the family legacy – using horses from their ranch for media purposes as well as looking after them off screen.
Running alongside the current story is another revolved around character Ricky Park (Steven Yeun). As a child actor, he was featured on popular sitcom ‘Gordy’s Home!’. A seemingly family friendly TV show, whereby a family allow for a chimp to join then and become a pet. That is until, Gordy the chimp became out of control causing devastating casualties on set.
OJ and Emerald find themselves on a quest to work out what is happening in the world around them. With an inkling of the unknown hanging above them, they acquire new technology in order to try and record what they believe might be alien activity.
‘Nope’ has some really uncomfortable moments with the fear of the unknown. It also does a great job of tying up the loose ends that the viewer has witnessed throughout the movie, as well as allowing them to come to their own thoughts on what’s happening. Viewers and critics alike have commented on the visual piece and how pleasing some aspects are.
If you’re looking for a Science Fiction Horror to sink your teeth into, this is the one for you. Amongst the moments of clarity and comic relief, there’s some truly horrifying stuff. It will have you laughing to quivering in an instant.
