Novelty Island has recently released his charming new single titled “Michael Afternoon.” The track is now available to stream via Spotify!
“Michael Afternoon” takes on a unique style of storytelling within a song. It’s a track that has a sense of nostalgia about it. A sound that is rarely heard anymore. Novelty Island – also known as Tom McConnell – has taken inspiration from the likes of The Beatles. It is an influence that can be heard throughout the track, yet the singer has a way of making the sound his own, without directly copying. The single is the second to be released from his upcoming debut album “How Are You Coping With This Century?”
The nostalgic theme continues in his music video that was released alongside the single. One thing is for sure, the video shows a highly creative way of bringing a song to life. It’s surreal, unusual, and maybe a little bit trippy – but in the best way possible. The video can now be viewed via YouTube below;
Novelty Island originates from Liverpool, and the music history that surrounds the city has highly influenced his sound. During the lockdown, he found himself back there after speninding time in London. The upcoming album explores the emotions and thoughts that he had to endure during that time. You will hear a collection of personal tracks that is filled with clever songwriting and creativity you have never seen before. Let “Michael Afternoon” give you a taste of what’s to come next. The album is due to be released in the late summer.
