Songstress Alma Grace has recently dropped her brand-new single “Aventura.” The track is now available to stream via all major streaming platforms!
“Aventura” is a stunning acoustic driven track that will have you instantly hooked. It follows the release of her amazing previous single “Girl Fight” – an insane bisexual, feminist bop – that was released earlier in the year. The new track is also a narrative-driven pop song with a unique twist. The single alternates between English and Spanish that celebrates Alma’s own multicultural and bilingual upbringing. This is a theme that you will discover throughout her upcoming EP “FRIDA” due to be released on the 5th of May.
When talking about the track, Alma Grace explains;
“I loved the double meaning of the word “aventura”—it simultaneously means adventure and affair, and Frida certainly had her fill of both. Frida is rumored to have had affairs with everyone from Leon Trotsky to Georgia O’Keeffe. She lived her life loving whoever she wanted to love—a courageous philosophy for a woman in the early 1900s and in the modern day.”
The singer is highly inspired by the iconic artist Frida Kahlo. Alma first discovered her work and history through the well-loved matchboxes and coasters her Grandmother would bring over from Mexico City. She dug more into Frida’s life as she got older and became fascinated by the way the Mexican artist was able to find artistic ways to redefine beauty standard, and break down the boundaries placed on gender, race and sexuality. This is what Alma wishes to achieve through her own work of art. By naming her EP “FRIDA,” she is able to explore the ways in which Frida has influenced and impacted her life.
