Towards the end of last year, Gavin James dropped his highly emotional single “Man On The Moon.” The track is now available to stream on all major streaming platforms, and a stunning lyric video can be viewed below;
Gavin James releases that is bound to make you feel things you didn’t know you needed to feel. From doing this, the singer has received global success. Gavin has managed to gain 1.5 billion streams on Spotify, with 5.6 million monthly listeners with his magnificent storytelling. His music will truly captivate you and bring a sense of escapism.
From busking in his own time on Grafton Street, Gavin soon made a name for himself and has done shows with some of the biggest names in the industry including; Niall Horan, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith. He then moved on to selling out his own, massive shows with up to 13,000 capacity!
Gavin James has already proven himself and has seen great success. “Man On The Moon” is the beginning of the next chapter in his career. Here is what he had to say when we got in touch;
Hey Gavin! Thank you for having a quick chat with us!
Let’s start by talking about your new single “Man On The Moon.” We’re loving it! What can you tell us about it? What is it about?
I tried to picture someone on the moon, thinking that they are all alone and not realising that the whole world is thinking about them. It’s about looking after the people you love because some days, they may feel like they have no one to talk to
It’s truly a lovely and emotional track. Do you ever find it difficult to come up with different concepts when creating a new song? Where do you find the inspiration? How do you get over a creative block?
Yes I had a totally block at the start of the lock down, I thought I would write 100 songs but I got locked into hours of Tiger King and cooking, thankfully I got back to writing and have not stopped since. I wrote it Mark from Kodaline, we wrote in the lock down.
You’ve received global success in your career so far. You currently have 1.5 billion overall streams and 5.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify – which is amazing! You also have no trouble selling out shows. Can you tell us what else you would like to achieve as a musician?
I just hope I can keep doing what love making music that I hope people will like and performing concerts.
What would you say has been the best advice you have been given since becoming a musician?
Don’t stop working and keep focused on your song and your fans.
A bit more of a tough question for you, what would you say has been the worst advice?
That would be in school being told I would never make it in music.
If I told you to write a song based on what you’re feeling right now, what would the song be about, and what would it be called?
Right now I would love a beer and some chicken wings 🙂 may be it’s called “Chimaek”

Finally, can you tell us any future plans you may have in 2021?
I’m currently writing my album and lining up some really interesting releases that are coming up soon and collaborations. I have a live stream concert coming Feb 14th and I hope that we will be back to some festivals this summer.
