Yesterday, we talked about Our Top 5 Christmas Number 2s. The songs that just missed out on snapping up that top title. Whenever an artist releases a song around the holidays, it’s always to get that number 1 spot.
Christmas number 1s are different from any other number 1s you see the rest of the year. Of course, getting that title is something every artist wants no matter what the time of year is. But, when it happens at Christmas, no one seems to forget it. So, let’s take a look to see who is in the running for Christmas number 2020!
LadBaby – Don’t Stop Me Eatin’
Every year, LadBaby releases a song in order to get to number 1. The proceedings made from the track goes to charity. “Don’t Stop Me Eatin'” is the new single from this incredible and hilarious family. And yes…the song is about sausage rolls…why not? This year, the husband and wife duo (Mark and Roxanne Hoyle) are raising money for for Trussel Trust. This amazing charity supports more than 14 million families in the UK living below the poverty line. This winter, food banks are expected to give out an emergency parcel every nine seconds. By supporting this song, you’re helping a family in need. They have already been Christmas number 1 for the last two years, can they do it again? The song also comes with an extremely humorous video that can be viewed above.
Justin Bieber ft The Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir – Holy ft. Chance The Rapper
Christmas is the time for giving and LadBaby aren’t the only ones wanting to raise some money for charity this year. Justin Bieber has teamed up with the amazing Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir. The song also has the insane Chance The Rapper throwing some bars to spice “Holy” up a bit. The pofits made from “Holy” will be split between two charites – NHS Charities Together (which represents over 230 NHS charities) and the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Charity. These charites were chosen to give recogonition to our wonderful NHS staff and all that they have done for us this year during the COVID crisis. Where would we be without them?
Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas
Amazingly, Mariah Carey’s iconic Christmas song “All I Want For Christmas” – that was originally released in 1994 – has only JUST reached number 1 in the UK in 2020. It has held this spot for the last two weeks but will she make it to a third week? Will “All I Want For Christmas” FINALLY get that Christmas number 1? Well, we guess that that is for the listeners to decide. Let’s face it, Mariah Carey has been holding up the holidays with this song for three decades now – it wouldn’t hurt if we could reward the banging track by helping it reach the top spot this Christmas?
ICU Liberty Singers – Every Breath You Take
Once again, another track to help show recognition to the NHS staff. “Every Breath You Take” is performed by the ICU Liberty Singers – NHS critical care staff from across the country has come together to bless us with this beautiful rendition of this highly known song originally sung by The Police. The track was all recorded virtually and is now out and fighting for that top spot.
Liam Gallagher – All You’re Dreaming Of
Oasis legend Liam Gallagher has recently released his new single “All You’re Dreaming Of.” It is a truly beautiful ballad that will have you weeping. Liam is more than confident that he is a good contender for the battle of Christmas number 1. He recently told a fan on Twitter;
“it’s gonna be rite up there you gotta be in it to win it.”
He’s not wrong. It’s a big thing to do to compete for this iconic title. But you don’t know unless you try. Any one of these amazing songs has that chance and the list goes on. These are not the only songs fighting for Christmas Number 1. It’s anyones guess.
