Singer-songwriter Billy Locket makes his return with his new single “Wasting Time.” The track is now available on all major streaming platforms, and the heartwarming music video can be seen below;
Billy Locket has a way of breaking everyone’s hearts through the power of his lyrics and storytelling. The release of “Wasting Time” is the start of Billy’s new chapter in his music career, and also an indicator as to where his sound is going for his upcoming EP that is due to be dropped next year. The track follows the heartache you feel after painfully splitting up with your partner. The lyrics, as well as the execution, is so powerful it’s enough to make anyone miss an ex they don’t even care about anymore.
The single follows the singers widely successful album of modern classic piano consumptions titled “Together At Home.” It was released back in June of this year and was a one-off project that was inspired by the isolation during lockdown. The album sees reworkings of Billy’s most popular tracks alongside brand-new compositions. “Together At Home” can be streamed on Spotify.
When talking about “Wasting Time” , Billy says;
“It was recorded totally honestly and totally in the moment – the beauty of recorded music is you can capture those moments sometimes. Once I had recorded it, I felt way better, the song changed my mindset straight away. The classical album was fun but I can’t tell you how good it feels to be SINGING AGAIN! After struggling with addiction for the best part of a decade I finally feel like I’m out the other side, it’s hard to explain but I totally forgot how happy I could be.”
The single was accompanied by an equally heart-wrenching music video which truly bought the song to life. When speaking about the music video, Billy continues;
“The Wasting Time video is the concept that we sometimes can easily forget the importance of the things we have whether that’s career, friendships, love etc. The bees are representative of how they live in particular seasons and die in other particular seasons like relationships changing over time. The nature scenes overall, show how humans’ destructive path also leads to long-term damage, bitterness or in the larger perspective – a dying earth.”
