REVIEW: Robert O’Connor Drops EP ‘Transcendence’

Irish singer Robert O’Connor has released his upcoming EP titled “Transcendence.” The EP is now available to stream on Spotify!

“Transcendence” starts with an intro that showcases a simple, yet stunning piano melody. Whilst there is no singing as of yet, it keeps you on your toes from the very start. The perfect preparation for what’s to come. It then transitions into the next track “Destination Anywhere” – which was a single Robert O’Connor released not to long ago. It’s all about how other around you perceive you, and the pressures of that. Both of these tracks showcases the singers talents from the very beginning, leaving you craving for more.

What follows is a short interlude before moving on to “Over (Before It’s Begun).” This track will take you back to the summer as it has that summer nights, chill out vibes to it. Robert worked with Skynem GT throughout the EP and he shines through in this track. The upbeat tempo that we hear throughout the track is contagious, and you can’t help but wish for those summer nights once again.

When then have “Older ’20” – which was released at the beginning of 2020. This was his first proper collaborative single with Skynem GT and we feel it shows perfectly how well they work as a team. This track is certainly an easy listen-to, even thought the lyrics are quite heart-breaking. Robert has managed to write a deep and meaningful song, whilst Skynem GT works his magic by making light of it.

The last, proper song that we hear on “Transcendence” is “Real Good Fight.” This song is all about fighting through your hardest times. The inspirational track will leave you thinking about where you are in life, and if you are truly happy being there. The EP leaves us with an outro which allows you to go through these thoughts. Having an intro, interlude, and an outro makes the listening experience that extra special. It gives you a break to help you process what it is you’re listening to, we feel that this was a very nice touch.

“Transcendence” is definitely worth your time so be sure to give it a listen! For more updates, you can follow Robert O’Connor on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
