At the end of August, four-piece band BLOXX dropped their debut album titled “Lie Out Loud” – which is now available to stream on Spotify!
The album features some of the bands biggest singles including ‘Go Out With You’, ‘Coming Up Short’, ‘Thinking About Yourself’, ‘Off My Mind’ alongside some banging new material. Their journey as a band so far has been phenomenal. They’ve played some massive shows whilst also gaining a huge army of a fanbase – who have helped them achieve 30 million streams on Spotify to date!
Not only have BLOXX been celebrating the release of their new album, but they have also announced dates for their 2021 tour. Tickets can be found here, and tour dates can be seen at the bottom of this article.
We wanted to know more about this fantastic album and the upcoming tour so got in touch with the band. Front-woman Fee Booth had this to say:
Hey! Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. You’ve recently released your debut album “Lie Out Loud.” We’re LOVING it over here. Why don’t you start by telling us a bit about it?
Hey! The record is basically an accumulation of personal experiences over the last 4 years of being a band. breakups, fights, good times, bad times. all the teenage angst.
Where did the title of the album come from? Is there a story behind this?
The title is simply about the feeling of always convincing yourself that you’re right when really you’re just obviously lying out loud. That resonated with me when choosing a title to sum up the record as a whole and what it meant to me.
Can you tell us what your favourite track on the album is and why?
Coming Up short, I feel like that track sums me up as a writer and us as a band. It feels a bit grown up and that’s the direction I’ve been going in recently with follow up songs for the record!
Sort of a follow up question to the last, what would you say is the best lyric from the album? And what does that lyric mean to you?
I Think my favourite lyric would have to be from swimming.
“I won’t be gone for long, would you like to swim along”
It feels like a great way to end the record. It’s like a closing thing. That song was fun to write
You’ve also got a tour coming next year which is exciting! What can fans expect from your live shows?
So much energy! Honestly it’s going to be some of the best shows we’ve ever pulled off. We have some much planned and we’ve been practicing the albumtracks to death. We can’t wait for it.
We can imagine that all the songs will go down extremely well live. A lot of energy will be going down in that room. Which song are you most looking forward to playing live and why?
Give me the keys. It feels fun already to play even just in rehearsal!
With all the festivals and concerts being cancelled this year, I want you to describe your perfect line-up for a festival that you want to happen next year. If you were on this line-up, who would you like to share the stage with?
Haim, Cage the Elephant, The band Camino, Bombay bicycle Club, Nothing but thieves etc
What is the one question you wish someone would ask you in an interview but nobody ever does? By all means, answer the question you come up with!
Oh good question. I really don’t know. Sometimes we get really great questions, ones that people don’t tend to ask. Most of the time it’s in depth ones like this!
I’d love to share insight on writing music in terms of instrumentation and what the process is like. I love describing how we come up with riffs and certain sounds. I mess about with plugins mainly, but most of the synth sounds on lie out loud are either a Juno, prophet 6 or a moog.
Finally, can you tell us of any future plans? What are you currently working on now?
I have recently been working on loads of music! Lockdown created a sense of longing to make more music and i whacked out about 20 tracks!
Recording some at the end of this month so there might be somoe new stuff sooner than you think!
Big thanks to Fee for having a chat with us! We’re very excited to see what BLOXX has in store for us in 2021. For future updates, be sure to follow the band on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
