With an existing reputation and several amazing reviews, we couldn’t wait to get our ears into the new album from Busty and the Bass, ‘Eddie’. 10 years in the making, BATB have been hard at work creating the album, platformed via Arts & Crafts and is available to listen via Spotify now!
Combining some of our favourite sounds such as funk and jazz, this is an album not to be missed. There’s also a couple of features including Macy Gray with ‘Out Of Love’ It really sets the vibe for the whole album. We can imagine chilling in the garden to this on a Saturday night! A few tracks later, we hear ‘Baggy Eyed Dopeman’ with George Clinton. With such a strong chorus, the carefree sound leaves you wanting more! As well as these impressive collaborations, the behind-the-scenes team is also extensive, including Neal Pogue (Grammy Award winning Producer) and Verdine White (Executive Producer).
We also wanted to mention the album titled song ‘Eddie’. We love the vocals on this. With a mixture of ranges that blend perfectly, we’re going to have this on repeat for a while. The bass and instrumentals in ‘Time Don’t Make Me A Stranger’ will give you chills throughout your whole body, this track puts the bass in Busty and the Bass! Other tracks include some stunning ballads including ‘Summer,’ and ‘Cold Night’ – both will have you sat in deep thoughts for hours. The main theme throughout the album is the insane blend of instruments and vocals. You can physically feel the beats in your chest in every single song.
The story of how Busty and the Bass formed really makes us believe it was meant to be. After only a week at McGill University in Montreal, the band quickly formed and began performing. After an impressive few years of touring and attending international festivals, as well as two EP’s (‘Glam’ and ‘Lift), BATB decided to release ‘Uncommon Good’ in 2017. With 20 million + streams under their belt, they decided to put their efforts into writing from 2018 onwards. We really respect this in an artist. We can appreciate that as a band, effort goes a long way, and the need for things to be perfect before release. This hard work is what has brought us ‘Eddie’.
We’ve listened to every song and we genuinely can’t pick a favourite! Busty and the Bass clearly have their own unique and original sound, and is simply nothing quite like what we’ve heard before. Sometimes, the genuine passion for the music really shines through, and that’s certainly the case here.
