Can you even remember life without Netflix? We can’t. Although we enjoy watching re-runs of our favourite films and TV programmes, we can’t help but be drawn to the original series’. Here’s our Top 5!
5) The Good Place.
Kristen Bell plays Eleanor Shellstrop, a tragic woman who died before her time. After the fatal accident of falling into a series of shopping trolleys, being dragged into the road, and getting hit by a lorry, she finds herself in the good place. But should she be there? Eleanor amongst 3 others (Tahani, Jason, and Chidi), must fight for their right to stay in the good place when essentially they should have had a one-way ticket to hell…
4) Tiger King.
We know you’ve seen it. Everyone on this whole planet has seen it!…at least those who own a Netflix account. This documentary follows the life of Joe Exotic, an animal-loving eccentric who owns his own tiger king-dom. We are also introduced to Carole Baskin, who you could argue loves safari animals even more. This series follows the highs and lows of large cat facilities in the US and the on-going feud between Joe and Carole. Did one of them feed their spouse to the tigers? Let us know your thoughts!
3) Orange Is The New Black.
A classic, and almost makes us want to spend a few days in prison… We love how each episode of OITNB explores the back story and childhood of each character. This lets you understand the behaviour of each of them, as well as learning why they’re placed in Litchfield Penitentiary. It’s also an emotional rollercoaster – We cried, we laughed, we were angry. You have to watch this if you haven’t already.
2) The Haunting Of Hill House.
Ok, hear us out. You might not be into the scarier stuff but we think this is a must-watch! The series follows the Crain family – consisting of parents Hugh and Olivia, and their children Shirley, Steven, Kate, Eleanor, and Luke. There are constant flashbacks to when the children were younger – when they first moved into Hill House. Safe to say they didn’t stay their long. Watch this series to see their journey and how a house has haunted their lives ever since, covering all stages of grief and how each character deals with their emotions so differently.
1) 13 Reasons Why.
Hannah Baker is a young girl who committed suicide and wanted to tell her story about why she did what she did. To do this, she recorded tapes and explained, so those who effected this decision could listen. Only watch this series if you’re in a good place mentally – there are some gritty storylines, such as sexual abuse, etc. A gripping watch, never the less!
We think we’ve covered all genres! Documentaries, drama, thrillers, comedy. There’s something for every mood.
